Depending on the moisture content in the Irish Seamoss, our batches range in color from light brown to a more translucent, clear tone. Because our Irish Seamoss is wild-collected, it has natural salt on its surface as well as particles of mesh (from the harvesting nets) and sand that must be removed by hand.

What is Raw Seamoss?

Raw Seamoss, also known as Irish Moss or Chondrus crispus, is a type of nutrient-dense seaweed found on the cool, rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean. How to Prepare:

Rinse Seamoss well under cool water and place it in a container with just enough water to cover it. Soak for at least 12 hours. Soaking is an essential part of removing the ocean's taste.

Tip: To neutralize the taste, squeeze lime or lemon juice over the Seamoss while soaking.

Remove the Seamoss from soaking water and place it in a blender with just enough fresh water to cover it, then blend until it makes a smooth paste. For preservation add lime or lemon juice while blending! It is now ready to use in your favorite smoothies, teas, desserts, or even face masks! 

Store in a clean glass jar and refrigerate.
